Patrick Beverley Joins Hapoel Tel Aviv BC in Israel

Veteran NBA guard Patrick Beverley has signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC, a prominent team in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Beverley made the announcement on social media Tuesday afternoon, marking a significant move in his professional basketball career.

Beverley, who recently celebrated his 36th birthday, took to his X account to share his decision. He was considering a veteran minimum NBA contract or an opportunity overseas. Beverley’s career has come full circle, as he initially began his professional journey in Greece and Russia before establishing himself in the NBA over the past 12 years.

During the 2023-24 NBA season, Beverley started with the Philadelphia 76ers but was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks at the trade deadline in February. This move reunited him with coach Doc Rivers. Throughout the season, Beverley delivered consistent performances, averaging 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He shot 41.7% from the field and 33.7% from beyond the arc over 73 games.

In the playoffs, Beverley stepped up for the Bucks, who were dealing with significant injuries. He started all six games in the first-round series against the Indiana Pacers, although the Bucks were eventually eliminated. Beverley’s playoff performance was noteworthy, despite the team’s early exit.

However, should Beverley choose to return to the NBA in the future, he faces a four-game suspension. This penalty stems from an incident during Game 6 of the Bucks-Pacers series, where he threw the ball at Pacers fans multiple times.

Beverley has played for five different NBA teams since the 2021-22 season and has not signed a multiyear contract since 2019. His move to Hapoel Tel Aviv BC represents a new chapter in his storied career, bringing his experience and skills to the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
