Bob Newhart Tribute Special Draws Record 4.1 Million Viewers on CBS

 CBS's tribute to the legendary comedian Bob Newhart, titled “Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter,” captivated 4.1 million viewers on Monday night. The “Entertainment Tonight” special celebrated Newhart's extraordinary 70-year career in comedy following his recent passing at age 94. This made the special the most-watched program in its 8 p.m. timeslot, outperforming competing shows such as NBC's “American Ninja Warrior” (2.7 million viewers), ABC's “The Bachelorette” (2.6 million viewers), Fox's “Name That Tune” (1.4 million viewers), and CW's “All American: Homecoming” (322,000 viewers). In addition to being the top-rated show of the night, excluding sports telecasts, “Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter” also became the highest-viewed “Entertainment Tonight” special ever. Caitlin Clark Shines with Another Record-Breaking Performance

 Caitlin Clark continues to make history in the WNBA. Following her groundbreaking triple-double as a rookie last Saturday, Clark delivered another phenomenal performance, scoring 29 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out 13 assists in the Indiana Fever's narrow loss to the Washington Mystics. This achievement makes her the first player in WNBA history to record over 25 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, five steals, and five 3-pointers in a single game.

Despite Clark's efforts, the Fever fell short, losing 89-84. Clark's fourth-quarter heroics brought Indiana within three points, but the team's 23 turnovers proved too much to overcome. "It’s really hard to win basketball games when you have 23 turnovers," Clark noted. "We really fought, and we battled, and we didn’t give up."


The Fever's struggle in the first three quarters allowed the Mystics to build a 22-point lead. Coach Christie Sides emphasized the need for consistency, stating, "You can have a bad quarter, but you can’t have three bad quarters."


In the final quarter, Clark scored 15 of her 29 points, leading the Fever to outscore the Mystics 29-13. However, the turnovers ultimately sealed their fate, contributing to 23 points for Washington.

Indiana Fever


Clark's remarkable performance included her fourth consecutive double-double, the second-longest streak in WNBA history, behind Courtney Vandersloot of the New York Liberty. Additionally, Clark became the fastest guard in WNBA history to reach 20 career blocks, adding three more in this game. She also became the only rookie this season to record 20 steals and 20 blocks.


Clark's leadership and resilience are evident as she averages 16.1 points and 7.4 assists per game this season. If she maintains these numbers, she will be the first player in WNBA history to average over 16 points and seven assists per game.


For the month of July, Clark's stats are equally impressive, averaging 20.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 12.3 assists per game. She is on track to achieve the first-ever 20-point, 10-assist month in WNBA history.

Indiana Fever


Despite the loss to Washington, Clark's historic talent shines on a developing Indiana Fever team. The Fever will aim to bounce back when they host the Phoenix Mercury on Friday evening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
