 CBS's tribute to the legendary comedian Bob Newhart, titled “Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter,” captivated 4.1 million viewers on Monday night. The “Entertainment Tonight” special celebrated Newhart's extraordinary 70-year career in comedy following his recent passing at age 94.  Trump Unharmed After Assassination Attempt at Pennsylvania Rally

BUTLER, Pa. — Former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally approximately 30 miles north of Pittsburgh on Saturday. The incident resulted in the death of one individual and critical injuries to two others. The gunman, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pa., was shot dead by the Secret Service.

Trump was swiftly escorted off stage, and the rally was abruptly concluded. According to Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police, the investigation is ongoing, with the PSP leading the homicide investigation and the FBI focusing on the assassination attempt.

In a Truth Social post, Trump expressed gratitude to the agents who protected him and extended his condolences to the victims' families. He also recounted the incident, noting he was grazed by a bullet.

Steven Cheung, Trump's campaign communication director, confirmed that Trump was checked at a local medical facility and was unharmed.

The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wis., set to commence Monday, will proceed as planned despite the incident. Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi detailed the event, noting that the shooter fired multiple shots from an elevated position outside the rally venue.

President Biden condemned the violence, emphasizing that such acts have no place in America. Biden, who was in Delaware at the time, spoke to Trump and is expected to receive further briefings from homeland security and law enforcement officials.

In response to the incident, the Biden campaign has paused all outbound communications and is working to remove its television ads.

Congressional leaders and former presidential candidates have expressed their support for Trump and condemned the violence. Attorney General Merrick Garland has pledged the Justice Department's full resources to the investigation.
